Gyeonggi Province has certified 65 local companies that exemplarily practice family-friendly management as "2023 Gyeonggi Family-Friendly Excellent Workplaces" and held a certification ceremony on the 30th at the Gwanggyo Hall of the Gyeonggi Business & Science Accelerator.
The event was attended by Yoon Young-mi, Director of Women and Family Policy at Gyeonggi Province, Kim Jae-kyun, Chair of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council’s Women, Family, and Lifelong Education Committee, as well as representatives from the certified companies and about 120 participants in total.
The "Gyeonggi Family-Friendly Excellent Workplace" certification project aims to foster family-friendly work environments by identifying and certifying companies that operate exemplary family-friendly systems, and providing them with various benefits (totaling 50 types).
The province held an open application process in May, which received great interest with 127 companies applying. After document reviews, on-site inspections, and evaluation committee deliberations, a total of 65 companies were selected — 35 newly certified and 30 re-certified.
Evaluation criteria included:
-
Implementation of family-friendly systems
-
CEO interest and commitment
-
Corporate stability
-
Employee satisfaction
Among the newly certified companies, Gounsaeng Cosmetics Co., Ltd. (based in Seongnam), a cosmetics manufacturer, has adopted a 7.5-hour workday, flexible working hours, and a responsibility-based system that allows up to two days of remote work per week to boost focus and productivity.
Etnus Co., Ltd. (also in Seongnam), a management support platform company, offers flexible annual leave and staggered work hours to help employees manage childcare responsibilities. The company also hosts the annual "Etnus Spring Festival" to promote family engagement.
Certified companies received official certificates, plaques, and certification marks from the Governor of Gyeonggi Province. Additionally, they are eligible for various benefits from seven different organizations, such as preferential interest rates when applying for SME development funds.
Notably, newly certified SMEs can receive up to KRW 2 million in support funding for family-friendly program operations, including employee health management, improvement of work environments, and education in family-friendly management.
The certification is valid for three years, from this year until 2026. After this period, companies may reapply for certification to extend their eligibility for another three years upon approval.
